Energx

Project overview

How do you prevent burnout through a data based framework?

Energx is a platform & learning experience that delivers, coaching and insightful data and analytics to help people, teams and organisations overcome burnout.

This project for Energx (Now WinWell) revolved around extending the user engagement past the workshop attended, in order to facilitate the user’s continual learning & energy self evaluation. We created an energy charting and learning content platform in response to insights from the user research.

1. Discover

The client provided an overview of their current onboarding journey which was mapped to illustrate the current state. We also recruited participants at various stages of their onboarding journey to participate in face-to-face and remote user interviews to investigate perceptions, behaviours, pain points and hopes in relation to the Energx user journey.

2. Define

User research revealed that a large majority of the users were highly proactive in engaging with the learning and assessment materials provided and expressed high levels of satisfaction with the assessment experience.

The low point of the user journey mainly involved the post-workshop phase where there was little follow up. This situation left them losing interest and momentum with the program.

Majority of the EnergX users were also found to be highly active in their work and community, thus believing that it was important to take care of their personal wellbeing in order to fulfil other responsibilities. To support this effort, they often socialised or connected with others and kept physically fit. Many of them also adopted various wellbeing tracking applications in order to keep on top of a healthy work-life balance.

The aggregated data informed two key personas representing EnergX users; which allowed us to empathise with their motivations, pains and gains within the current EnergX experience.

3. Develop

Based on the insights, we believed that if we could allow the user to see & chart how they are performing compared to others, based on their needs for self-evaluation and social connection, it would enable them to:

  • Visualise their energy goals

  • Stay engaged with their EnergX journey

We then began ideation to form several possible features to address their hopes and pain points

4. Deliver

User stories and features were formed and put into consideration through value mapping.

After critically analysing each feature’s value vs effort for development, we believed it would be most critical to create a platform to chart daily energy levels according to the four EnergX foundations of:

  • Fuel (physical wellbeing – food nutrition and sleep),

  • Fire (finding purpose & meaning),

  • Feeling (connection with ourselves and others)

  • Focus (self-value and creating value)

In addition to that we also delivered a progressive learning component that unlocks to the next level of learning to reward the user’s action of charting in their daily energy levels, utilising the ‘hooked’ model to trigger user action.

It was decided that features dealing with social connection between users would not be a priority at this stage due to time constraints & value placed on that element having come from a smaller set of users.
